TEMPLE BAR SQUARE
Temple Bar Square, Dublin City Centre
This is a public realm refurbishment project comprising of the upgrade of the square and adjacent streets to allow for more public and cultural activities. The proposal includes new street furniture, new tree planting, seating and public lighting.
The kerbs and steps are removed so that the square is extended as a single, shared, gently sloping surface. The existing Dublin diorite setts are to be reused and relaid with their top face sawn to form this continuous surface. The drainage channel and street passages are defined by Leinster granite.
It is proposed to fully pedestrianise Temple Bar Square and Crown Alley and exclude regular vehicular traffic from these areas and to provide a significant improvement in universal access in the area.
